Essex Labour welcomes new refugees.

The Essex Labour group extend the warmest welcome to the Syrian families arriving into the County. Like most people in the UK and around the world, we've been deeply saddened by the scenes and stories coming out of refugee camps in Turkey and Greece.
On the 13th of October, we voted in favour of ensuring that Essex took every step necessary to provide aid and settlement for victims of the crisis. We support the efforts in any way possible, and will continue to lobby to ensure that essex County Council does its part.

The two pictures were taken in Colchester over the weekend, where 300 residents marched to show solidarity with the families being settled in their area.  Julie Young, leader of the Essex Labour Group, joined them to welcome incoming refugees in her home town, where 5 new families are to be settled in the run up to Christmas.
