P1040077_(1).JPGCllr Dave Harris put forward a proposal that the criteria is amended to give higher emphasis to local roads (local estate roads) as thats most people live !

Kerbs .. pot holes.. and footpaths are dire on local roads . I made the point in my speech about 2.1 m pounds paid out in compensation for damage and injury over road defects. Just imagine how many defects that would have fixed....

(Its hard enough to get a claim win.. so the 2.1m pounds is the tip of the iceberg)

I also made the point that top 3  residents priority issues were

Potholes, Potholes And Potholes

So its the public opinion issue that should be listened to.

But.. the ruling group voted it down!

The Mersea Road dentist surgery has been serving people in South Colchester for decades. But over the past year the powers that be decided to remove the funding that provided the NHS dentistry at Mersea Road.  Dave Harris wrote a petition, campaigned tirelessly to keep our NHS dentist and argued with NHS England about the need to keep our local dentist.

3 meetings with the NHS England, and then raising at the County Council Health and Overview scrutiny committee together with a call to Healthwatch proved the power and passion to keep our local services

Now - it has been announced that the Mersea Road dentist is to be at last given a reprieve and will be left serving the people of South Colchester - especially the people in the CO2 post codes in Colchester

Dave Harris said "I am very pleased that the future dental health of my constituents is assured by retaining Mersea Road dentists"

After the Marlborough Place development was finished, the usual hand over adoption takes place to ECC and the local authority.

All was well, until late one evening a car crashed into some railings outside Berechurch Road.

Upon reporting this, it appears no one allowed for the railing to be left with ECC, and developer deny they are responsible.

IMPASSE

So - as local rep, the only thing to do was give the authority an ultimatum... either they did the clear up, or I do it.

SO,  Taking direct action the railings are now removed and all safe.

After Blackheath was resurfaced with tar and chippings recently, it soon became apparent that the process was flawed. The loose chippings were showering onto pedestrians, cars, and the drives of local residents in Blackheath Road.

Dave has asked for a more robust sweeping regime to be put in place to stop the mess from stone chippings. For now Dave Harris has requested an urgent sweep up to make the paths safe for pedestrians and cyclists.
